Healthcare Reform FAQ > Unified Health Care Financing > Is this like the Canadian system?
Not necessarily. All industrialized countries (except the U.S.) have publicly accountable, unified health care financing systems. And all (except the U.S.) guarantee health coverage for all their residents. However many different models are employed, with different countries using different blends of public, individual and business contribution to health care financing. At the same time much of the information that we get about Canada's system simply isn't accurate. For example Canadians receive more doctors' visits, more hospital days, and more procedures per capita than do Americans.
