Rick Payne Democrat Yes  I support health care for all Washingtonians:
As long as it allows them to keep their current doctor or providers. And covers preexist conditions.
I also want dental, eye care coverage to be included in the STATE health care plan.
The state also can have Medical plans that let/allow Washingtonians can opt in or out of the state plan. So yes you can have state coverage at the MINIMUM or if your union or employer can pay for a better plan than what the state offers you can keep that plan. And covers preexist conditions.

Laura Carder Republican Maybe I'm concerned about public funding. Will it include drugging children or forced vaccinations? Will it include examining the spine and nervous system, treating subluxations ignored by the medical industry, which result in many health problems? Or will drugs or surgeries be used instead of natural remedies or chiropractic treatments? It is free to get adequate exercise and sleep, to avoid or cut down on soda pops, etc. sweetened w HFCS or aspartame. How about food stamps or EBT cards only for nutritious food?
State Representative Pos. 2

Timm Ormsby Democrat Yes

State Senator
John Roskelley Democrat Maybe I believe "high quality, sustainable, affordable" health care is where Washington needs to go, but the "publicly funded" portion depends on the cost. A pledge to support legislation isn't worth the paper it's written on before I see the facts and language in the bill and study the fiscal note, as to what the bill costs. The best of intentions can't be paid for when there are no funds available, and the state is presently $4-5 billion in the hole going into this biennium.

Democrat Maybe I absolutely support healthcare for all and will do everything I can to ensure all Washingtonians have access to healthcare. As someone who has had to purchase her own healthcare from Kaiser (the worst plan for a LOT of money) and prior to covid was driving to Monmouth, Oregon to teach at Western Oregon University because I can't get it in Washington when I teach part-time at WSU Vancouver, I am committed to ensuring we pass legislation that ensures everyone has healthcare. I have to see legislation that is practical before I can commit to publicly funded healthcare, though. I really like Whole Washington, but need to find out more about what a transition would look like.

Drew Hansen Democrat Maybe I 100% support Medicare for All at the federal level (which of course would cover Washington residents); I'm less certain this is doable at the state level because no state has yet done it (including California and Maine, which got some ways down this road before reversing course). Having said all that, I voted for Sen. Randall's Pathway to Universal Healthcare bill out of the House Appropriations Committee precisely because I want to see if there *is* a way this could work in Washington, and I look forward to seeing the recommendations from that workgroup.

Brian Pruiett Republican Maybe I see a critical need for increased medical entry level public health staff at each county, more for rural and underserved areas, such as NP, immunization support, screening services. Particularly so that our ERs are not continuing to face financial hardship from overuse by transients and persons under arrest when lesser levels of treatment are appropriate. I am particularly troubled by the responses from your organization's caller to the only two questions I asked: 1) "Where are your office locations?" Answer: "There are none." 2) "Is your organization advocating free health care for all persons, from all nations, which come to Washington State for their treatments so Washington citizens will be paying for all their health care?" Answer: "I cannot give you an answer to that."

Claus Joens Democrat Yes No maybe's. We already have twice as many people who lost their jobs during COVID-19 this year than in the Great Recession of 2008. Their health care is tied to their job. Their job loss was not a performance problem, so this has created a health care inequity that must be resolved now. There can be no life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness without a job and income, and health care...

I would include something to drive the cost of private insurance down without public funding. Some publicly funded insurance will be needed but we should attempt to find a balance. Mandates have cost jobs for people that are already struggling.

Republican Yes This is a 'Kafka' trap. This issue is worthy of a stand alone forum and is an insult to us hard working candidates. I've signed the face of 1,000's of paychecks and funded 100's of health care plans for our employees. Plus fought off scores of lawsuits by our litigious legal system. The litigious cost of our health care must be addressed or it will be broken prior to achieving truly "Affordable" Health Care
