The expression, 'the cat is out of the bag' didn't come out of nowhere. At some point, someone put the cat in the bag, and sold it to the other guy. Who, eventually, looked inside the bag. And discovered to dismay that in fact the cat was not a chicken. It's an old game. One you win by not playing. Of course everyone needs health care. And I don't think it matters where you are from. Swedes need vaccines, too. Being a Washington resident is not a prerequisite to health care. Nor should even having a residence be needed to administer a persons health care. I have recently been exposed to VA healthcare, and there is vast improvement to made there, very quicly and easily, by eliminating the mysterious, lengthy, inscrutable, entirely unnecessary referral process in which 'No' is signified by 'No Answer', and just make the damned appointment, immediately, without thinking about it, just the way medicare does. Generally speaking, I am very inclined to support political action toward health care. However, I am adamant religion stay out of heathcare entirely. I am no more interested in what a white male christian might have to say about someone elses family planning options than I am willing to allow Voodoo rituals in operating theaters. And that is merely the Camels Nose. Next, they want to say, "Oh, that guy's Gay, and I have religious morals, so screw him!" That's the Camels head. Next comes the neck, public funding for religious schools. Then, you employers religion becomes a part of your legal landscape. Pretty soon you have the entire camel in the tent, and you have to get out. Regardless the opinions of the particiants in the play Shakespeare called 'Life", we actually live in the real world. This is why the constitution seperates the government not just from 'the' chuch, but all of them. In the United States, there is no 'the' church. So, no leverage to use 'the church' to impede others health care. Yet, it continues... Hmmm.... Someone must oppose this. |

I 100% support Medicare for All at the federal level (which of course would cover Washington residents); I'm less certain this is doable at the state level because no state has yet done it (including California and Maine, which got some ways down this road before reversing course). Having said all that, I voted for Sen. Randall's Pathway to Universal Healthcare bill out of the House Appropriations Committee precisely because I want to see if there *is* a way this could work in Washington, and I look forward to seeing the recommendations from that workgroup. |

I see a critical need for increased medical entry level public health staff at each county, more for rural and underserved areas, such as NP, immunization support, screening services. Particularly so that our ERs are not continuing to face financial hardship from overuse by transients and persons under arrest when lesser levels of treatment are appropriate. I am particularly troubled by the responses from your organization's caller to the only two questions I asked: 1) "Where are your office locations?" Answer: "There are none." 2) "Is your organization advocating free health care for all persons, from all nations, which come to Washington State for their treatments so Washington citizens will be paying for all their health care?" Answer: "I cannot give you an answer to that." |
